BREAK CLEAR 9-BALL CHALLENGE @ GF BILLIARDS 3 Years, 3 Months ago
BREAK CLEAR 9-BALL NOVEMBER CHALLENGE @ GF BILLIARDS

Tournament Format: Round Robin + Knock out

Duration: 5 nights, 1 day (5 weekday nights + 1 weekend day)

Days: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Sunday

Number of participants: 24-40

Match dates:

Round robin:
24 to 32 players: 18, 20, 25, 27, 28 Nov
36 players: 18, 20, 21, 25, 27, 28 Nov
40 players: 18, 20, 23, 25, 27, 28 Nov

Knockout round: 30 Nov

Game: 9 Ball, race to 7 (Round Robin), 9 (Rd of 16), 9 (Qtr & Semis), 11 (Finals & 3rd placing play-off)

Format: Round robin group stage, 4 groups of 6-10 players, each player plays the other once.
Knockout stage, top 4 from each group qualify, single elimination straight knockout

Update:

In the case of 24 player sign-up, there will be a slight change in the format of the final round. Top 3 players will qualify for the final round per group of 6, instead of top 4.

Total of 12 players will come back for the final round on 30 Nov. These players will play off in groups of 3. Top 2 players from each group will progress to last 8. Remaining 8 players will then play off in a straight knockout format.

Also the third match time is at 10 pm. Yesterday no third match started after 10. So the last match should not be past 11:30 pm. Many even finished their games before 10. Next week should finish earlier as each player only needs to play 2 matches, instead of 3.

Thank you Terence, for your feedback.

We are unable to reschedule as we are also planning another tournament for December.

In fact, we have 5 days for the weekday round robin matches. Each player will only need to turn up for 3 of those 5 days. Therefore, those who are involved in the nationals can inform us which days they have their match and we can arrange their fixtures so there is no clash.

Also, as the tournaments are running concurrently, it can serve as good match practice for those hoping to do well in the nationals.

Just to update that the National 9 Ball Championships have been postponed to January 2009. So there will not be any clash with this tournament. Closing date for registration is 16 November. Do register early. Thanks.
